Unknown Unknowns are publications by Angie Waller. The books are written by ghostwriters, computers and other automatic means. They are compiled rather than authored. Words are considered for their monetary value over meaning. Observations take place through surveillance rather than personal experience.

The Automatic Automatic Writing Series imagines automatic writing in the traditional sense with the added layer of algorithmic mediation such as auto-correct, translation and/or grammar suggestion.

The Search Query Self-Help Series are titled after private search queries discovered through analytics software. Each is composed by a ghostwriter hired to respond to the question.

The Love Unknown Romance Series are based on Craigslist's Missed Connections. Postings are collected by city and then algorithmically recombined to create first person romance narratives. These editions are also available on kindle and can be purchased on Amazon.

Unknown Unknowns books are available at Printed Matter , Artbook @ MoMA PS1 and Amazon . Interested in sharing a dataset? Publishing computer-generated texts? Discussing natural language processing?
